FAR Infrared Sauna with Chromotherapy Lighting
& Oxygen Ionizer
Sauna
Toxin build up in the body is an unfortunate by-product of modern society. The body’s most effective way to rid itself of toxins is by sweating.
Traditional saunas were an effective way to rid the body of these toxins. They work by heating stones which heat the surrounding air through a process called conversion. This hot air causes our bodies to sweat.
Far infrared saunas incorporate a new technology for detoxifying the body. Our sun produces most of its energy output in the infrared spectrum. Infrared is the band of light we perceive as heat. We cannot see this band of light with the naked eye, but we can feel this type of light in the form of heat.

Far infrared rays heat your body, without having to heat the air in-between. They directly penetrate 3.5cm-7.5cm inside the body. Impurities are pushed out through perspiration. This allows detoxification to occur at a more pleasant temperature than traditional saunas (43ºC-54ºC) and with greater results. This enables significant health benefits to be achieved in a highly enjoyable and comfortable environment.
The Uniqueness of Far Infrared Rays to Human Body
- They travel in straight lines.
- They are easily absorbed by the human body, reaching as far as 3.5-7.5 cm into the tissues of the body.
- FIR operates from inside the body not just the skin surface.
- They vibrate at the same frequency as the human body.
- They remove the stagnant blocks (dormant cells) and normalize the blood circulation.
- They cause a warming effect once they enter the human body by activating molecules and body cells. Different individuals will feel varying intensities of the warming sensation.
- The FIR energy activates the cells, increases blood vessel resilience and promotes cellular functioning.

Far-Infrared Saunas Can Provide The Following Benefits:
Clear Cellulite
Cellulite occurs because of the body storing toxins in fat (adipose) tissues. The far infrared rays penetrate the body between 3.5cm-7.5cm drawing toxins from this part of the body, reducing cellulite. It is particularly effective in cellulite reduction when used in conjunction with a program including a healthy diet and exercise.
Detoxify Safely and Effectively
It is believed that the accumulation of toxins in our environment is a major factor in developing lifestyle related diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. Toxins are also a major contributor to the aging process. Far infrared saunas induce profuse perspiration and make it possible to sweat many of these toxins from the body, including heavy metals such as lead and mercury.
Anti-Aging Factor
Far infrared light stimulates the production of cell tissue and rapidly promotes the regeneration of skin and blood tissue in areas exposed to its healing rays. It speeds cellular metabolic rates by stimulating the activity of mitochondria, and triggering enzyme activity. Helping to flush toxins and reduce pain and swelling.
Improve Your Skin's Appearance and Skin Tone
By improving circulation, far infrared saunas have been shown to relieve acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, lesions and cuts. Far infrared rays also support the cell’s energy enabling functions to be enhanced, resulting in softer, silkier and more radiant skin.
- open wounds heal quicker with reduced scarring
- Help acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns and any skin lesions or cuts
- Helps to reduce wrinkles and make skin look radiant
- Firms and improves skin tone and elasticity
- May help reduce cellulite trapped beneath the skin
- Scars may become less visible
- Burns and incisions may heal significantly
Improve Blood Circulation and reduce Injury/Inflammation
The heating of muscles with far infrared light produces an increased blood flow level similar to that seen during exercise. Body temperature elevation also increases overall circulation. Infrared heat assists in resolution of inflammatory infiltrates, edema and exudates (proteins and cellular debris trapped outside of circulation). The increased peripheral circulation provides the transport needed to help evacuate the edema which can help end inflammation, decrease pain and help speed healing.
Assist in Weight Loss and Cardiac Health
As the body works to cool itself, there is an increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate. It is possible to burn up to 600 calories in just one 30 minute session – often more than you’ll burn on a 30 minute run! Often the inability to lose weight is associated with chemical toxicity. NASA concluded in the 1980’s that far infrared stimulation is the ideal way for astronauts to maintain cardiovascular conditioning during long space flights.
Assist SAD Depression
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression which affects people during the winter months. When your body receives less light it may cause a hormonal imbalance in the hypothalamus. SAD can range from extreme depression to mild "winter blues" depression. As sunlight is mostly composed of infrared light, infrared saunas provides the closest alternative to natural daylight and may alleviate symptoms.
Energise The Body & Relax The Mind
Enjoy a sense of relaxation and revitalization as your body releases endorphins, “the happy hormone”, into your system. Continuous strain on the autonomic nervous system often leads to a high level of stress, one of the elusive causes of many chronic diseases. Several researchers have linked endorphins to enhancing the immune system, relieving pain, reducing stress and delaying the ageing process
Beyond Exercise and Nutrition
Far infrared light affects the hormonal balance of the body, in levels of
- Melatonin: hormone derived from serotonin, produced by the pineal gland plays a role in sleep, aging, and reproduction
|
- Cortisone: naturally occurring steroid hormone, primarily in carbohydrate metabolism and is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, adrenal insufficiency, certain allergies, and gout.
|
- Testosterone: white crystalline steroid hormone, most potent naturally occurring androgen.

Chromotherapy Lighting
Colour and light have been used for healing since the beginning of recorded time. Ancient Egyptians built solarium type rooms with coloured panes of glass. The sun would shine through the glass and flood the patient with colour. Some people use coloured silk cloths which are placed on the body and then flooded with sunlight. Early colour and light healers in the modern world used coloured gels and sheets of glass to apply light to the body. Others used colour meditations to send healing rays to the person.
CNN recently announced that researches at Cornell University discovered that applying blue light to the backs of the knees resets the body’s internal clock, eliminating jet lag and the sleep disturbances that accompany shift work.
Different wavelengths of light (different colours) can affect your mood. A mixture of colours or a particular colour may produce a relaxing affect. This relaxing effect lowers cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol reduces the immune response and also raises heart rate and blood pressure. This relaxing effect incorporated into the far infrared sauna maximizes the therapeutic benefit of treatment by de-stressing your body.
Oxygen Ionizer
An ionizer is a machine that improves air quality by removing dust, germs, smog and other environmental pollutants. It also produces a stream of negative ions which promote a sense of wellbeing.
Negative ions are molecules that have gained an electrical charge. They are created in nature as air molecules break apart due to sunlight, radiation, and moving air and water. You may have experienced the power of negative ions when you last set foot on the beach or walked beneath a waterfall.
Negative ions promote a sense of wellbeing by increasing the flow of oxygen to the brain, resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy.
In fact, studies from Columbia University of people with winter and chronic depression show that negative ion generators relieve depression as much as antidepressants. The best part is that there are relatively no side effects.
Negative ions are rare in urban environments. Pollutants are composed of positive ions. Positive ions react with negative ions depleting them completely in some environments. Computer monitors, printers and other electrical equipment all produce positive ions.

USAGE GUIDELINES
Far infrared sauna therapy is very safe and therefore does not have stringent usage instructions. However, please consult your health care professional prior to use if you are taking any medications or if you have any health concerns.
How long is a session?
When first starting treatment, it is best to have sessions of 15-20 minutes for the first 1-2 weeks and then extend subsequent sessions to 25 minutes. Three sessions weekly is the best frequency to keep toxin levels low and to benefit greatly from the other positive effects.
What should I wear?
Clothing should be kept to a minimum as clothes absorb infrared light and may hinder treatment. A bathing suit or underwear only is preferred. Clean towels are provided to sit on and also to wipe away perspiration whilst inside the sauna.
How do I operate it?
We will show you the system when you arrive for your appointment and set it at your desired temperature. The unit has a temperature and timer control inside so that you can easily make any adjustments if you so desire.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for my sauna?
- Drink plenty of water before your sauna, 2 glasses is a good guide.
- You can have a hot shower to warm up your body if you like; this will allow you to start perspiring earlier and obtain maximum benefits from treatment, although this is optional. Dry yourself thoroughly before entering sauna as moisture will inhibit your body’s ability to perspire.
- An alternative to having a shower is exercise immediately prior to your sauna as you will the already be warm.
- You may want to bring your own music CD if you like to listen to whilst you are in the sauna or alternatively you can listen to the radio.
What do I do during the sauna?
- While in treatment, continually wipe perspiration from your body with a towel. This will ensure maximum perspiration and therefore the best possible benefit from treatment.
- As you sit in the sauna it is good to take this time to breathe deeply as you relax and also to perform some small stretches of neck as well as some shoulder rolls and some calf pumps as this will assist with circulation and help reduce tension. We will demonstrate these for you on the day of your session.
- Be sure to drink water whilst you are in the sauna. Note: fresh filtered water is available here for FREE.
What do I do after my session?
- After treatment you are welcome to have a shower to wash away all the excess toxins from your body. As your skin’s pores will be open it is best not to use any soaps or other cleaners as it will be easy for chemicals to enter through your pores.
- If you do not wish to shower here you can simply wipe away any excess perspiration and then get dressed and wait till you get home to shower.
- Take it easy after a sauna. Your body will be working hard to rid itself of toxins for a while longer. You may feel tired. Drink plenty of filtered water as your body will need extra water while detoxing. You may notice darker urine after treatment as your body rids itself of the toxins collected in your bloodstream. You may even notice redness/tingling of the skin as the extra circulation increases the oxygen concentration in parts of your body – this is perfectly safe and normal.
- It is possible that you may feel a little nausea or tired after the sauna – again this is due to the detoxing effect and is nothing to worry about. Simply rest if you are able and drink plenty of clean water.
SAFETY
- Do not drink alcohol before or during a sauna as alcohol dehydrates the body and is a neurotoxin. Always have a drink of water with you while in treatment. It is a good idea to continually stay hydrated. Remember you are perspiring!
- If you feel the sauna is too hot at any time remove heat by opening a ventilation window or the door. In very rare cases saunas may cause hyperthermia. If you stop sweating or feel bad or uncomfortable leave the sauna immediately.
- Do not sleep in the sauna.
- If you feel uncomfortable, faint, nausea’s, dizzy or find it difficult to breathe – please DO NOT PANIC. Simply open the door for some cool air and reach up to the power button and switch the unit off. Then, get out, lie down flat on the floor on your back on your towel and just relax as your body cools. Please also call for help at this time using the bell provided in the room.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use sauna if you have a body temperature or if you are feeling sick in any way. Pain should not be experienced when using an infrared heat system, though the heat generated by the rays will go to areas of disease or discomfort. Some people perceive this as painful, others more as a sensation. If pain persists beyond a reasonable integration period (usually 24 - 36 hours), the use of infrared heat is clearly inappropriate for the person at that time.
Prescription Drugs
If you are using prescription drugs, check with your physician or pharmacist for possible changes in the drug's effect due to an interaction with infrared energy.
Certain Ailments
According to some health authorities, it is considered inadvisable to raise the core temperature of someone with adrenal suppression, systemic lupus erythematosus, or multiple sclerosis.
Joint Problems
If a person has a recent (acute) joint injury, it should not be heated for the first 48 hours or until the hot and swollen symptoms subside. Joints that are chronically hot and swollen may respond poorly to vigorous heating of any kind. Vigorous heating is strictly contraindicated in cases of enclosed infections be they dental, in joints, or in any other tissues.
Surgical Implants
Metal pins, rods, artificial joints, or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared rays and are not heated by an infrared heat system. Nevertheless, a person should consult his or her surgeon before receiving such therapy. Certainly infrared therapy must be discontinued if a person experiences pain near any implants.
Silicone
Silicone does absorb infrared energy. Implanted silicone or silicone prostheses for nose or ear replacement may be warmed by infrared rays. Since silicone melts at over 200 degrees Celsius, it should not be adversely affected by an infrared heat system. However, it is still advised that a person checks with his or her surgeon.
Pregnancy
In pregnancy or the suspicion of pregnancy, discontinuation of sauna use is recommended. Infrared sauna use during this time may produce discomfort to the user.
Menstruation
Heating of the low-back area of women during the menstrual period may temporarily increase menstrual flow. Once a woman is aware that this is occurring, she can choose to allow herself to experience this short-term effect without worry. Or she may simply avoid using an infrared heat source at that time in her cycle.
Haemorrhage
Haemophiliacs and anyone predisposed to haemorrhage should avoid infrared usage or any type of heating that would induce vasodilatation (extra blood flow) that can lead to the tendency to bleed.
Worsened Condition
Should any condition worsen with the continued use of the far infrared sauna, the use of the system should be discontinued. Some temporary symptoms, however, may be attributed to the detoxification and the healing process itself. Talk to us or your health professional about these issues.
